The correct height depends on your bed rails and mattress depth, ensuring you comply with BS EN 60601-2-52 safety standards:

• Standard (86cm): Best for standard profiling beds with low-to-medium depth foam mattresses.

• High (96cm): Recommended if you are using deeper mattresses or a dynamic air mattress overlay, which raises the patient’s resting height.

• Extra High (105cm): Ideal for bariatric beds, extra-deep alternating air mattresses, or for patients assessed as a high risk for rolling over standard-height rails.

Note: UK MHRA guidelines state the top of the bed rail/bumper must be at least 220mm above the uncompressed mattress.
